Palolem Beach, Goa

About Palolem Beach
Palolem is the beach of Goa's southernmost town locally referred as Chaudi. Call it the essence of Goa or the god's gift to Goa, Palolem is extremely beautiful of all. It is a shallow bay fringed with white sands and coconut palms, with a village right behind it. At the northern end a tiny island settles itself from where you can wade out to the low tide. Hotels have flourished on every bit of Palolem. Get doused in the Palolem beach to wet your long striving soul for its share of beatification.

Attractions in Palolem Beach
Pandava's Drum
At the southern end is a stream that keeps its path open to the cup shaped valley, called as Pandava's Drum. Famous for its Pandava legends and a tip that ways back its resonant sound it is a wonderful place.

Figueiredo House
Go a little further along the path and you come to a small cave built in 20th century in beach house. By the Figueiredo family. It was damaged by Vandals, so it's now part of Neptune Point hotel.

The Island
At the extreme northern end of the beach is the Island. To reach there, you have to wade across the stream at the North end of the beach you see what looks like a rock bridge across. There is a path to follow and snorkellingto be done in the rocks adjoining the island, where you can see urchins, sea cucumber and catch a fleeting glimpse of the occasional groupers. There is a great view of the sunset from the island.

Dolphin Spotting Trips
There are lots of Dolphin in the area, tough one needs to get out early to get them. If you take the boat trip then do not miss little butterfly beach.

Pantem Colomb Beach
Just south of Palolem is the vaddo of Colomb. By itself, Colomb has a little Cove. But the Vaddo of Patnem adjoining it has a fine beach about a kilometer long. The nicest thing about this beach is that it has a rocking nightlife which is just 15 minutes a walk away, and still you get the hold of solitude.

Water Sports
Apart from the canoe rides and dolphins-spotting cruises, there is a little other water sports here. The fishermen organize these trips with little charge.
