Kudremukh
Chikmagalur is girdled by hill stations on all its side. Just as
towards the southwest, 95 kms of Chikmagalur is situated a isolated hill
station of Kudremukh. Beauty of the Kudremukh lies in its crevices and
crannies created due to the chaining of the hills together. Kudremukh
has rich flora and fauna waiting to be discovered and explored by the
tourists. Kudremukh boasts of the its rich iron-ore and also is a lure
for the trekkers. The ruins and remnants of the past speak volumes about
past at Kudremukh, its caves and ruins being the main attraction.
Kudremukh has also another tourists specialty and that is Kudremukh
National Park.
Amruthapura

Amruthapura
is home to 800 years old temple dedicated to Amrutheshwar. Nearby is the
pilgrimage of Sringeri, famous for Vidyasankara Temple designed with 12
zodiac pillars on which sun rays falls according to the time of the
year.
Mullayanagiri
Mullayangiri is part of the Baba Budan Hills at the altitude of 1903
meters and is the tallest peak in Karnataka. Barely 6 kms of Chikmagalur
Mullyanagiri is best known spot for watching the sunset. But apart from
the beauty of the hills, the best part to enjoy Mullyanagiri is the
drive upto it. Steep deep crevices and narrow cliffs make the drive
risky at Mullayangiri. Come across the beautiful Sitalayangiri that has
a peculiar pond that is known to maintain a constant water level
throughout the year. It is also a great trekking spot in Karnataka.
Kallathagiri Falls
Hardly at a distance of 10 kms from Kemmanagundi lies Kallathigiri
falls, also known by the name of Kalahasti Falls. The water of this
falls cascades down from the highest peaks of Chandra Dona hills and
makes up a heart warming scenery. Don't miss out the Veerbhadra Temple
dedicated to Lord Shiva and is constructed between the hill rocks.
Guru Dattatreya Bababudanswamy Darga
Located on the Baba Budan Giri is the Inam Dattatreya Peetha revered by
the Hindus and the Muslims alike. A laterite cave built here is believed
to have been sanctified by the residence of Dattatreya Swami as well as
Hazrat Dada Hayat Mir Khalander. The worship here is conducted by a
fakir and the annual jatra or urs is attended by both Hindus and Muslims
with great zeal.
Essential Facts
- Chikmagalur is not accessible by any stations in India, the only
closest station being Kadur, 40 kms from Chikmagalur. There are
buses every 30 minutes from Bangalore. There are KSRTC buses that
are comfortable especially the Rajhamsa buses.
